Snow fell heavily from the sky, covering the park in a thick white blanket. The trees remained silent. The playground swings swayed a little in the cold wind, but there was no one to play on. The entire park felt empty and forgotten. Through the falling snow, a small boy appeared. He couldn’t have been more than seven years old. His jacket was thin and torn. His shoes were wet and full of holes. But he didn’t mind the cold. In his arms, he carried three tiny babies wrapped tightly in old, worn blankets.
The boy’s face was red from the icy wind. His arms ached from carrying the babies for so long. His steps were slow and heavy, but he wouldn’t stop. He held the babies close to his chest, trying to keep them warm with what little heat he had left in his body. Their faces were pale, their lips turning blue. One of them let out a weak, small cry. The boy lowered his head and whispered, “It’s okay. I’m here. I won’t leave you.” The world around them was moving fast.
Cars speeding by. People running home. But no one saw him. No one noticed the boy, or the three lives he was fighting to save. The snow grew thicker. The cold worsened. The boy’s legs trembled with every step, but he kept walking. He was tired. So tired. Still, he didn’t stop. He couldn’t stop. He had made a promise.
Even if no one else cared, he would protect them. But his small body was weak. His knees buckled. And slowly, the boy fell into the snow, the triplets still tightly wrapped in his arms. He closed his eyes. The world faded into a white silence.
And there in the icy park, beneath the falling snow, four little souls waited. Waiting for someone to notice. The boy slowly opened his eyes. The cold bit into his skin. Snowflakes fell on his eyelashes, but he didn’t wipe them away. All he could think about were the three tiny babies in his arms.
She shifted a little and tried to stand again. Her legs were shaking badly. Her arms, numb and tired, struggled to hold the triplets tighter. But she wouldn’t let go. She stood up with all the strength she had left. One step, then another.
He felt like his legs might break beneath him, but he kept moving. The ground was hard and frozen. If he fell, the babies might hurt themselves. He couldn’t let that happen. He refused to let their tiny bodies touch the icy ground. The cold wind tore at his thin clothes.
Each step felt heavier than the last. Her feet were soaked. Her hands trembled. Her heart pounded painfully in her chest. She bowed her head and whispered to the babies, “Hold on, please, hold on.” The babies made small, faint sounds, but they were still alive.
