Teams looking to bolster their offense ahead of the 2025 NFL season should see if there’s any way the Philadelphia Eagles would trade superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown.
There’s zero indication that the Eagles are open to trading A.J. Brown, or that he wants out of Philly after helping them win a Super Bowl 59 championship.
But Brown has popped up aplenty in trade rumors this offseason, with NBC Sports’ Matthews Berry reporting in March that the New England Patriots inquired about his availability. At the end of the day, it just takes one can’t-refuse offer for Eagles GM Howie Roseman to trade Brown.
The Eagles still have Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert to help Jalen Hurts on offense, and they won Super Bowl 59 despite a relatively quiet postseason from Brown (12 catches, 163 yards and two touchdowns in four games). So there’s a case to be made that they should trade Brown now while his value is at its highest.
One team that stands out as an ideal landing spot for the 27-year-old A.J. Brown is the Pittsburgh Steelers. They made a big splash for Seattle Seahawks star D.K. Metcalf, but they need more WR help after sending George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.
With Aaron Rodgers presumably on the way, a Metcalf-Brown tandem would be the best in the AFC, pushing Pittsburgh into the echelon of Super Bowl contenders.

At the 2022 NFL Draft, the Eagles gave up the No. 18 and No. 101 picks to the Tennessee Titans to acquire Brown. His production has skyrocketed in Philly, so Pittsburgh may have to offer Roseman something similar to get him.
A fair offer would be Pittsburgh’s 2026 first-round pick, a 2026 third-rounder (they obtained an extra third-rounder from the Dallas Cowboys in the Pickens trade) and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Pittsburgh has a super WR tandem to build around, even in the post-Rodgers era, to keep them contenders. Philly gets extra draft capital and ample cap space to bolster a roster that can still compete for a championship without Brown. It’d be a win-win for everyone.
