Although the couple did not have children of their own, they had a deep bond with their dog, Jasper, who was a cherished member of the family for many years.

In September 2021, Jasper sadly passed away due to an aggressive form of cancer. Perino shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, writing, “It is with broken hearts that Peter and I have to let you know that Jasper, America’s Dog, died today. A fast-spreading cancer caused him to leave us sooner than we’d ever hoped.”
