Along with the sweet clip, he revealed her full name, Gianna Grace Roberts, and opened up about what it means to him.

Roberts won the hearts of millions with his powerful voice and heartfelt performances, ultimately clinching the American Idol crown during the May 18 finale. After topping the viewer vote and performing his moving rendition of Tom Odell’s “Heal,” Jamal made history—becoming the first Black man to win since Ruben Studdard in 2003, and doing so after what host Ryan Seacrest called “the biggest finale vote in show history.”
