Comedian Kat Timpf Welcomes First Child Just 15 Hours After Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Kat Timpf, a comedian and new mother, has received a breast cancer diagnosis shortly before the birth of her first child last week.
The Fox News contributor and panelist on “Gutfeld!” announced both significant life events in a post she referred to as “An Unconventional Birth Announcement” on her social media platforms.
In her statement, Timpf, 36, shared, “Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.” She confirmed the birth of her son with her husband, Cameron Friscia, a former Army Ranger whom she married in 2021.
Reassuring her followers, Timpf mentioned that her cancer is classified as Stage 0, and her doctor is “confident that it almost certainly hasn’t spread.”
The commentator, comedian, and podcaster had recently revealed her pregnancy, and her second book, titled “I Used to Like You Until… (How Binary Thinking Divides Us),” was published on September 10.
“As I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: Don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a little bit of cancer,” she noted, adding that her best option is to undergo a double mastectomy. She did not specify the type of breast cancer she has.
“Still, it was not a chill day,” she remarked. “I mean to say the least!”
Timpf, who announced her pregnancy in July, recounted waking up the day before her delivery, more than a week past her due date, feeling “consumed” with the desire to “get the baby out.” By that afternoon, however, she found herself “waddling around from appointment to appointment, discussing how to get the cancer out.” She went into spontaneous labor later that night.

Some alternatives: “Mom and baby are doing well, though mom is facing cancer” or “The baby’s growth is affected by her mother’s double mastectomy post-breastfeeding.”
The author of “You Can’t Joke About That” and “I Used to Like You Until…” expressed that her upcoming three months of maternity leave would be unlike what she had envisioned, as she is “still adjusting to my new reality.”
“As I navigate the challenges of new motherhood (and cancer), I am learning to appreciate every moment. I feel fortunate that we detected the cancer early; I am grateful to be my son’s mother. I may be biased, but he truly is amazing — and not just because he may have played a role in saving my life,” she remarked.
The host of “Sincerely, Kat” expressed her gratitude to her fans and followers for their support as she embarks on “this unexpectedly wild chapter.”
“Here’s to resilience, to miracles amid chaos, and to discovering humor and hope even during the most challenging days.”

In a July article for Fox News announcing her pregnancy and clarifying her political stance as neither Republican nor Democrat, the libertarian entertainer shared that she had never considered having children until she met her husband.
“[M]eeting him made me realize that having kids could actually be a rewarding experience,” she wrote at that time. “Part of it was a sense that something was missing in my life. Part of it was simple curiosity. Part of it was that I felt I had already experienced everything else. And, as silly as it may sound, I thought it would be amusing.”Timpf candidly discussed her pregnancy during a September interview with The Times, revealing that she had faced criticism for not having children for many years.
“For years, I received hateful comments… then I became pregnant, and you would think this is what those individuals desired, right? I didn’t do it for their approval, yet now they are saying, ‘Can you stop talking about your pregnancy already?’ Some of these critics are the same people!” she remarked.
“Some individuals will always find a reason to criticize. I really dislike the attitude of, ‘Oh, you’re not the first person to be pregnant.’ I am aware of that! However, this is my first experience with pregnancy! Life can often feel dull, and there are so few moments that evoke true wonder and excitement about existence. I’ve felt so emotionally drained that sometimes I just think, let me enjoy this! Are you upset that I’m happy and thrilled about having a baby?”
