Sir Rod Stewart has left fans stunned and deeply concerned after revealing a sudden health issue that’s forced him to cancel more Las Vegas shows—just days after insisting he would “never retire”.

Currently performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace as part of his Encore residency, the 80-year-old music icon took to Instagram to announce the devastating news. Sir Rod—who’s married to Penny Lancaster—shared on Monday (June 2) that he wasn’t well enough to perform and had to postpone his show

In his Instagram Story, he wrote: “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10. Your tickets will be valid for the new date – Sir Rod.”

Fans were quick to flood his comment sections with messages of support. “So sorry to hear. Please feel better and get well soon,” one wrote. Another added: “God bless you… hope you’re feeling better!”

But concern soon deepened after Sir Rod posted another update late last night (June 5), revealing he had been officially diagnosed with the flu. Under doctor’s orders, he was forced to cancel another performance.

“I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from flu. Thanks for your love and understanding. Rod 💔,” he wrote.

Not everyone, however, was so forgiving. Some longtime followers began voicing frustration over the last-minute cancellations.

“Think it’s time you retired. Disappointing for fans who travel to see you and then getting told on the day it’s cancelled. Happening too often. Don’t be greedy,” one user tweeted.

Another added: “I think you really need to seriously think about retirement now, Rodders. You don’t need the money and you don’t want your STAR to fade.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Sir Rod has had to cancel a Vegas show on the day of the performance. Last summer, he pulled out of the final night of his residency due to lingering effects of Covid. At the time, he said: “Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long.”

Despite this recent wave of cancellations and concerns about his health, Sir Rod has been adamant about continuing to perform. Just weeks ago, he declared on Twitter: “I was put on this earth to be a singer and will keep doing so for as long as the good Lord lets me.”

But now, fans are left wondering—how long can he really keep going?
