A rusted  suitcase pulled from a remote well in southern Portugal has sparked a dramatic new chapter in the 18-year-long search for Madeleine McCann — the British toddler whose 2007 disappearance shook the world.

Local authorities confirmed that the suitcase was discovered during a routine property inspection near the Algarve region, not far from where Madeleine vanished. Workers reportedly noticed an unusual odor and alerted police, who then called in forensic teams after realizing the suitcase had been deliberately hidden beneath debris at the bottom of the well.
