American Idol Season 23 finalists John Foster and Breanna Nix reunited in Nashville, and this time, they weren’t alone. The two were joined by rising country artist Rylie O’Neil for a moving trio performance of Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and the result is nothing short of breathtaking.

Originally posted to social media following their week at CMA Fest, the stripped-back acoustic rendition showed the trio seated casually, but their harmonies told a different story. With Foster on guitar and all three singers taking turns on verses before blending into a soft, soaring harmony, their chemistry felt effortless.

“Go rest high.. on that mountain♥️✨” Nix captioned the Instagram clip — and fans were quick to agree it was a heavenly match.
From the very first note, this performance feels like healing through harmony. Foster’s classic country tone anchors the track, while Nix’s emotional phrasing and O’Neil’s warm depth elevate it to something sacred. The way their voices melt together in the chorus — pure, aching, reverent — proves that sometimes, three voices are better than one.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Foster and Nix have turned heads with a duet. Just days before, the two Idol finalists surprised fans with an impromptu Instagram video covering Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis’ “I Told You So.” The stripped-down performance had fans begging for more.

Foster’s girlfriend, Brooklyn Bourque, even reposted the video to her story in full support.

The two Idol alums — who placed second and third, respectively — had reunited in Nashville for CMA Fest, where they performed together in Music City alongside other Season 23 alumni, including winner Jamal Roberts.
Both Foster and Nix also hit a major career milestone during their visit: their debut performances at the Grand Ole Opry. Foster, a self-proclaimed amateur country music historian, called it his “#1 dream” come true.

“The first time I went to the Opry, I fought back tears because I was so overwhelmed with joy,” he wrote. “This has been my #1 dream ever since I started music, and now, because of your support, my dream will come true!”

Nix called her performance a “bucket list” moment, adding, “It was such a privilege and honor to sing at the @opry.”

With these two artists continuing to create magic together beyond the Idol stage, it’s clear their journey is only just beginning — and fans are here for every note.
