IT’S A GIRL! Dylan Dreyer and Brian Fichera Share Emotional Reveal After Welcoming Three Sons—The Moment They Found Out Changed Everything for the Today Show Star
After years of raising a joyful trio of boys, Today show meteorologist Dylan Dreyer and her husband Brian Fichera have made a heartwarming announcement that has fans and colleagues celebrating across the country—they’re expecting a baby girl.
The beloved morning show personality, known for her infectious energy and down-to-earth charm, shared the news with viewers in a touching on-air reveal that brought more than a few tears to the studio. For Dylan and Brian, who already share three sons—Calvin, Oliver, and Russell—this pregnancy represents a long-awaited dream come true.
The Big Reveal That Left Everyone Smiling
During a segment that had been teased as a “family update,” Dylan stood beside her husband with their boys gathered nearby. The couple opened an envelope on live television, revealing a burst of pink confetti that floated to the floor as Dylan gasped, “It’s a girl!”
The studio erupted in applause. Savannah Guthrie wiped away tears. Al Roker hugged Dylan with an uncontainable smile. But it was Dylan’s stunned, emotional reaction that captivated viewers.
“I’m still in shock,” she said, laughing through happy tears. “After three boys, we just assumed we’d be outnumbered forever. This little girl is already so loved.”
A Long Journey of Joy—and a Bit of Chaos
Dylan and Brian’s journey to parenthood has always been filled with honesty, laughter, and love. Over the years, Dylan has invited viewers into her family life, from pregnancy cravings and sleepless nights to parenting three high-energy boys under 10.
And while she’s always spoken about the joy of being a “boy mom,” Dylan admitted that deep down, she held onto hope for a daughter.
“I never wanted to say it out loud because I didn’t want it to sound like I wasn’t grateful for my boys,” she said. “But every time we found out we were having another boy, I had this tiny flicker of maybe—just maybe—one day.”
That day, it seems, has finally arrived.
Brian’s Reaction: “She Already Has Me Wrapped Around Her Finger”
Brian Fichera, a writer and producer, echoed Dylan’s joy. “We were just floored. I mean, we love our boys and the chaos they bring, but to be bringing a little girl into this mix? It’s like a new chapter. She’s already got me wrapped around her finger, and she hasn’t even been born yet.”
He also joked about needing to brush up on “Barbie knowledge” and said he’s already Googled how to braid hair.
A Girl in a House of Brothers—How Will It Work?
While the Dreyer-Fichera household is known for noise, Nerf guns, and soccer balls flying through the hallway, Dylan says her sons are beyond excited to welcome their sister.
“They’re already planning who gets to hold her first,” she shared. “Calvin wants to teach her how to ride a bike. Ollie says he’ll be her protector. Rusty just keeps pointing at my belly and saying, ‘baby!’”
The couple has not yet shared a due date, but Dylan confirmed the baby is expected to arrive this winter, likely just in time for the holidays.
“We’re calling her our Christmas miracle,” she said.
Fans and Co-Hosts Flood Her With Love
As the announcement aired, fans lit up social media with support, congratulations, and heartfelt stories of their own families. Messages poured in from celebrities, colleagues, and Today show viewers who have followed Dylan’s motherhood journey from the beginning.
Hoda Kotb posted, “Tears and chills! So, so happy for you!”
Even former Today co-hosts chimed in, with Jenna Bush Hager calling the moment “pure magic.”
What’s Next for Dylan Dreyer
Dylan plans to continue working through much of her pregnancy and has already joked that “this baby will be doing the weather with me from the womb.” She’s also considering launching a new podcast or digital series documenting life with three boys and a newborn daughter—“if I can find time between diaper changes and dance recitals,” she laughed.
For now, she’s focused on staying healthy, cherishing the final months of this pregnancy, and preparing to welcome the family’s long-awaited baby girl.
And from the looks of it, that little girl is already the star of the show.
